Overview:

The Senior Manager of Workforce and Business Development for the National Restaurant Association is seeking a dynamic and motivated Communications assistant/intern with a strong interest in state and federal workforce development policy and project management. This position will be working closely with national changemakers and organizational design consultants. This position will play a key supporting role in building workforce development initiatives through effective administration, communication, marketing, and strategic planning efforts.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Communications Support:

  • Collaborate to develop and implement communication strategies that promote workforce development initiatives for the hospitality industry.

  • Assist in creating compelling content, including press releases, articles, blog posts, social media updates, and newsletters to effectively convey mission and workforce development efforts.

  • Monitor media coverage related to workforce development policies and report relevant news.

 

Marketing:

  • Work closely to devise and execute marketing campaigns to raise awareness about workforce development programs and initiatives.

  • Assist in designing promotional materials, graphics, and visuals that align with branding guidelines to effectively communicate key messages to target audiences.

  • Support the development and distribution of marketing materials to relevant stakeholders and partners.

 

Strategic Planning:

  • Participate in strategic planning meetings and brainstorming sessions to contribute innovative ideas for workforce development projects.

  • Assist in conducting research on state and federal workforce development policies and initiatives to inform decision-making and project planning.

  • Help analyze data and compile reports on the progress and impact of workforce development programs.

 

Project Management:

  • Aid in coordinating and managing various workforce development projects, including organizing meetings, taking minutes, and ensuring timely follow-up on action items.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure seamless project execution.

  • Monitor project timelines and update project management tools to track progress and identify potential bottlenecks.

 

Potential Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in a relevant degree program, such as Communications, Public Policy, Political Science, Business, or a related field.

  • Strong interest in state and federal workforce development policies and programs.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.

  • Proficiency in using various communication platforms and tools, including Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and productivity tools.

  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work output.

  • Ability to work independently with a proactive and can-do attitude.

  • Familiarity with marketing principles and content creation is a plus.

  • Previous experience in communications, marketing, or project management is advantageous but not required.

 

Duration and Compensation:

  • This is a remote contract position, with a flexible schedule and an expected duration of 6 - 12 months. 

  • Compensation commensurate with experience.
